Celebrate this Season of the Spirit!
These days following the Church's celebration of Pentecost are anything
but ordinary time.
Everything is happening at once: teenagers are graduating; young
children (mine included) are celebrating First Eucharist; school is winding
down; summer pools are opening. I am greeting neighbors who, like me, have
finally come out of their winter caves to go for walks, mulch their gardens,
and mow their lawns. Everywhere, life is booming and blooming. It is a time full of
growth and opportunity.
Let's
rename this season "Extraordinary Time, " and make it an
extraordinary Season of the Spirit. How about starting and ending every day
between now and Advent with these prayers:
Morning
Prayer for Extra-Ordinary Time
Holy
Spirit,
Where will
I find you today?
How are you
calling me today?
Who around
me needs to know
Your Power
Your Light
Your Freedom
Your Love?
Show me how
I can help!
Amen!
Evening
Prayer for Extra-Ordinary Time
Holy
Spirit,
Where did I
find you today?
Where did
you lead me?
[Give
thanks for times the Spirit led you today, or times when you experienced the
Spirit through others.]
Thank you
for the gift
of your holy presence in my life through others.
Amen!
